Bespoke: Emerald Green Shell Cordovan Passport Holder

We have been working with the idea of creating a wallet with one piece lining yet still exposing the flesh side of the outer leather. There are few reasons why this particular design works better in certain application. First is related to the overall thickness of the wallet itself and second is edge paint application.

Shell cordovan is one of finest leather (we think it is the FINEST) to wear and work with, there is quite nothing like it. There are certain challenge working with shell leather and one of them is it's thickness, it can only be split down to certain thickness to maintain it's incredible properties. We'll talk more about Shell leather on a different blog entry.

In order to reduce the overall thickness we decided to 'open' a slot in the middle of the lining. This way, the slot can be used as pockets, negating the need to add an extra layer (below picture for illustration).

The continous nature of the lining throughout the length of the wallet helps with the edge paint durability, especially when the wallet is being open in the opposite direction (prevents cracking). It's hard to explain in words but works really well in practice.

As always some photos...
